The Junior School

In the Junior School we aim to develop confident, resilient pupils who have high self-esteem and a passion for learning. We ensure that every child in our care is given every opportunity to achieve academically, to participate in all the experiences the school has to offer them and to make firm long lasting friendships.

Our well-qualified, experienced and committed staff teach small class sizes in an environment which is caring and stimulating. We treat each child as an individual, offering additional support where needed and recognising and challenging our most able.

In our most recent ISI (Independent School Inspectorate) education quality inspection report (December 2022) the quality of pupils’ academic achievement and other achievements and the quality of pupils’ personal development were both judged as excellent.

We provide our children with a comprehensive and challenging curriculum supported by our excellent digital technology provision. All children in the Junior School have access to a personal device to use across different subject areas.

We have specialist teaching in Music, Drama, French, PE, Science and Art in the Junior School. We participate in local and national events in many areas of the curriculum through the ISA (independent Schools Association) and local Cornish and Devon events.

There are annual residentials for KS2, curriculum visits and extra-curricular activities which all enhance our varied and well-rounded programmes of study. These all ensure that our pupils have a growing sense of confidence, curiosity and increased self-esteem, which ensures they are fully prepared for life beyond the Junior School.
